I've chosen a little different version of the TMNT for this go around. Back in the mid to late 80's....maybe early 90's, artist Micheal Zulli portrayed a much different version of the beloved reptiles. Large, hulking creatures, more turtle than ninja. Still fast and adept at wielding ancient Japanese weapons, just more of representation of their namesake. Coupled with that is...I love drawing snow scenes....and ninjas. And what better than a sword fight....a showdown in the snow. Taking from numerous samurai films, and more notably KILL BILL ( The fight between B and Orin on the rooftop is perhaps one of my favorite scenes in the film ) and my love for black and white, I opted for the pic above. When I went to do this, I suddenly realized I'd moved all my boards to my new studio. So...I had this piece of white cardboard laying around....and well...here you have it. Pen and ink, a bit of marker for greytones and some acrylic white for snow, measuring 12"x 12"
This is great Jim! Love you ink work. Reminds me a bit of Yuko Shimizu http://www.yukoart.com/
