Retreadsville

Howdy all!  For today's post I've shined up a couple older pieces.  One for experimentation purposes (and to get my brain thinking in an effective, limited color way for future plans, moohahahahaha!) and the other for a gallery show.

First off, Boba.  This guy was screaming for the Kenner action figure coloring, so this happened.

This lil fella is soon to find itself printed on metal and hanging in a local gallery so I thought it needed some sprucing up.  A couple of things I had thought of when I did the piece originally and a couple of ideas I could only get from revisiting older art.
So what have I learned from this exercise? Go back, look at your old work!!  Sometimes it's done but sometimes it's waiting to be done.

It's on like Qui Gon!!!

I see your Deadman.....

..and Boba Fett,

and raise you a BRAK!!!

I've been playing around with a brush pen a lot lately and love it so you will be seeing more here soon.  The thing I always love about working with ink is it teaches you when you are done and how much you need and how much you don't need.

Ben: Escape The Sarlacc Pit!

Finally got around to finishing my Boba Fett for the blog.  I got the sketch, inks, and flats done pretty quickly and then got super busy.  I'm really glad I came back to this one.

Head over to my personal blog for my Work In Progress shots.

Round 31: Disney and Lucasfilms

First they came for the Muppets.  Next they came for Marvel.  Now they take our Star Wars.  Can anything stop the evil forces of...Disney?  Who knows?  The Rust Belt Monsters have decided to call an audible with our normal schedule and get topical.  Of course, doing a round of political art would make more sense, but that's not what we're about.  So we've decided to take on Disney's recent acquisition of Lucasfilm.  Keep checking back here as we merge Disney properties with the work of George Lucas: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Willow, even Young Sherlock Holmes.
