A worthy exercise

Hi all, so last weekend I too part in Bay Art's 5 hour, monthly life drawing and it felt great!  It's been a while since I've done a pose longer than 20min and I didn't know how much I missed it until I did it.  I'm not 100% happy with my efforts (but honestly who is ever 100% about their own work) but as a return back to academic drawing its a good start.  I plan to go to as many of these as I can.  So get back to class if you can, it's good for ya!!!!

Favorite part of this one, her shoulder.

Give Up

Hey there rust belt homies! Here's some more stuff happening in my sketchbook, this ones a double page drawing (note the seam) and has lots of lines. Lots of tiny tiny little lines that make my hand hurt by looking at em. I hate those lines.

Tess And The Dragon 2

Hey dudes! I'm still digging through a lot of older sketchbook work to share with you, but I wanted to take this week to play a bit with a limited pallet. I've got a few personal projects around the corner where it's a skill that will hopefully come in handy. This image came from a life drawing session, but I added the dragon afterwards as I've given up taking mescaline while I draw.

Recently, this image was used to promote the FIVE HOUR life drawing sessions I'm facilitating at BAYArts. next week. I had to add a quick black bikini top to it just like the biker magazines I used to stare at behind the corner in the grocery store growing up. Every so often they'd miss an edit and encourage me to start saving for a motorcycle.

I never got that bike, but starting next week I'll have 5 hours to stare at naked people without sneaking around.

Randy Crider

Tess And The Dragon

More sketchbook nonsense.

I facilitate a regular life drawing session in town, and at some point I decided to start finishing the drawings from those sessions. Of course, "finishing" means adding dragons and monsters to the poses.  Be on the look out for a lot more of these, as it's a regular session. The life drawing, and the monster adding.

Ben Grabs His Sketchpad and Draws From Life

It has been at least 6 months since I've done any live, live drawing.  Oh sure, I've done the occassional rough sketch of a reference photo, but as far being in the room, it had been too long.  I'm sure I said it before on this blog, but life drawing is important.  And I can't think of anywhere I'd rather practice life drawing than at Dr. Sketchy. Look online.  I'm sure there's one in your town.

A sketchy lil' doodle

Starting last month two friends ( the wonderful and talented Ashley Ribblett, and Janie Walland ) and I took over the reins of the Cleveland branch of Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School!

We had our second event this past Tuesday, and it was fantastic!
Above is the poster that I made for the event.

Heck, I even had a little time to doodle a bit.

If you're in the area (Northeast Ohio) and you want to check out what the fuss is all about (you should), you can find Dr. Sketchy Cleveland on facebook, and learn all about the next one there (8pm, March 18th @ the Beachland Ballroom).

Tim's Thursday Post (better late then never)

11"x14" Black ballpoint pen

So, I didn't realize that YESTERDAY was Thursday ( it felt like Wednesday all day), and totally forgot to post something up here.

Since today is actually Friday, we (my fellow Rust Belters and I ) are part of Cleveland Exotic Dance Studio's annual "Winter Soirée" party tonight, there will be dance performances, live art being made, and an art show (we are only participating in 2 out of the 3 of those...), this piece is my contribution.
