More To Love

Click the picture, count the lines.

In keeping with the "prints we'll have at FCBD this weekend" theme, I wanted to post the new color version of this piece I shared on Valentines Day. It's part of a larger collection (more on that soon), but I printed a limited number of these for the event to share the love early.

Rescue!

Click and count the lines.

It’s no secret that this is about my kid being born. The difference in scale is entirely intentional as I wanted Robin to only be able to hold Batman’s finger, just like my daughter did when I met her.

This is EXACTLY how I remember it happening...Ladder and all.

Just like the other monsters, this original piece is for sale at FCBD at Carol and John’s comic shop, as well as prints of an (upcoming) colored version. You should buy them, my kid is almost two now and she needs a Robin costume.

V-Day

Finished the inks for a print to be released in the near future just in time for Valentines Day! Mortal enemies hugging? I assure you I drew no inspiration from my dating career for this piece. Not one bit.

Art Nerd Toughness

Skulls are tough, painting is tougher. Id get this tattooed if there weren't so many tiny lines...Or if I was tougher.

Calling A Big Ol' Soft Spot

With Valentines Day around the corner, it was a good time to celebrate my love...of wrestling. If you've been following my Instagram, you know how just how often a masked gentleman will make an appearance.  I'll take a wrestler over a superhero most days, but it might be because I don't own any capes.

Since Valentines Day is right around the corner, I've released this as a print and a sticker in case you've got a special wrestling nerd/mask enthusiast in your life. Stay cool out there, friends.

We're Okay

This week it's an actual Rust Belt Monster Collective. I'm a huge fan of being proud of where you're from, but this is more my speed. Cleveland's great, I guess.

2014 was the year I embraced this style fully, after flirting with it for a long time. Sometimes on this very blog.  I've got no intention of stopping anytime soon, so better get used to it.

I made these fellas stickers too, click here to make your okay bumper a bit more okay.

Give Up

Hey there rust belt homies! Here's some more stuff happening in my sketchbook, this ones a double page drawing (note the seam) and has lots of lines. Lots of tiny tiny little lines that make my hand hurt by looking at em. I hate those lines.

Tess And The Dragon

More sketchbook nonsense.

I facilitate a regular life drawing session in town, and at some point I decided to start finishing the drawings from those sessions. Of course, "finishing" means adding dragons and monsters to the poses.  Be on the look out for a lot more of these, as it's a regular session. The life drawing, and the monster adding.

Poor Lil' Guy

Hi all my buddies!  Here's something that's been floating around my studio for months. This fella started as a doodle in the cartooning class that I teach, and after weeks of making tiny lines in my free time, he's the crosshatched monstrosity that stands before you.  I'm pretty fond of him, especially since I based his hair on the "hairstyle" my newborn daughter had at the time. Good chance you'll see more of him, or in the very least some of his crosshatched brothers and sisters.

I Don't Care What You Do, But Never Do It In Uniform.

This weekend (4-5-2014) the Rust Belt Monster Collective will be painting a live mural for the "Oh Captain!" show at Breakneck Gallery. It's a group show centered around our buddy Captain America,  if you're in the Cleveland area you should come out for what promises to be a stellar show.

For the past 4 years whenever I ask my friend and former comic partner for suggestions on what to draw , without fail he tells me to draw the dude smoking a joint, and I finally took him up on it. The original piece will be on display (and for sale!) at the show Saturday. Hope to see you there!
