Tim W3:Galactus!

EDIT: Galactus Cometh!

Well, sorry to be tardy to the party (again), I've never drawn the big purple planet eater before, and I kinda got carried away drawing all that killer Kirby kewl-ness, but after a long and seemingly hopeless struggle, a strange bald entity wearing a shimmering space toga appeared to me brandishing a weapon of unimaginable" Ultimate" cosmic power, using the weapon I was able to "Nullify" the great space god's power in a manner most mighty, I was left with only this drawing to commemorate the marvelous event .... or you know, I may have dreamed this...I need sleep, Excelsior!

Ink on paper drawing, colored in photoshop, as always go here to check out the rough line work: timswitalski.blogspot.com

work in progress post

Galactus is officially kicking my ass, it's 2am Monday morning and he is going to win.... for tonight (stupid procrastination gods). This is a "work in progress", I just wanted to post something, when I'm done I'll edit this post with a finished  "Devourer of Worlds".

Mrs. Galactus

What does the omnipotent, planet eating entity known as Galactus fear more than The Watcher?..More than the FF? More than even The Ultimate Nullifier? That's right...Mrs. Galactus. When she's not making him hang ceiling fans and taking out the trash..this powerhouse persona of female power calls the shots. Planet eater? Bah, she says! BAH!! She finds the largest and most fertile planet (She has no need of a mail lackey to find her food source.) and one she begins to feed on it's energy all surrounding planets are sucked in by her consumption. She eats entire solar systems. Oh yeah. She's that badass. She shows who wears the pants...or skirts in this relationship. Tremble and fear Big G! Tremble and fear!!

Week 3: Ants! We're All Ants!

I think about Galactus a lot, probably a lot more than I should.

I wanted to do something to counteract the pragmatism of my post last week, and I wanted to draw a lot of things, and I think I did just that.  I love drawing in this hatch heavy style, and someday soon hope to find a reason to use it besides drawing on place mats.

If you haven't already, do yourself a favor and read the Fantastic Four #48-50. It's really one of the best stories the medium has to offer, and is a constant inspiration for me.
Man, he just looks so cool.

Week 3: Galact-adorable

I am a career cute-artist. I spend my days drawing princesses and pirates - the more googly-eyed and sparkly, the better. It can be difficult to stop drawing adorably when you do it everyday and, this time around, my brain was reluctant to switch into evil-villain mode. And so, I present to you... the most squeezable planet-devouring monster ever.

Last week, Ben said that he was trying to get away from drawing flat figures. I have the same problem and this Galactus is my attempt to play it a little less safe. I think its is relatively successful, though I am too tired to make sure all the lighting is correct.

Oh and yeah, this is TOTALLY a subconscious Katamari homage.  "Na NaNaNaNa Na Na  Katamari Damacy..."

HEY! 16 days to showtime:

Week 3: OM NOM NOM

That's right in space it's pants optional and I guess the same goes for Art History. This lil' drawing is based on Goya's, "Saturn Devouring His Son". So there you go, pantsless Galactus eating Silver Surfer, enjoy!

Week 3: Galactus Is Hungry

So I can admit it, while I really enjoy Marvel, I've always been more of a DC guy.  Having said that, the only real knowledge I have of Galactus is that he is a devourer of worlds.  And that's pretty much all I had as for a jumping off point.  When I first started sketching him, I kept it pretty close to my normal "animation" style.  The farther along I went, the more I realized what a complex character he is design wise.  I eventually got really fond of all the little details and the rim lighting that I've recently become obsessed with.  I'm still looking for a good way to achieve the marker and colored pencil look that I love so much while still only working in digital medium.  I'm sure I'll figure something out.  Hope you like.

Week 3: Galactus

That's right.  90 weapons.
Making the lateral move from a deities to a devourer of worlds, this week the RBMC takes on Galactus.  Notify the president, call the marines, and alert the Fantastic Four, because we're gonna harness the power cosmic and decimate this city with pencils.
