Tim: Ranger Danger!

So...I don't know why I wanted to draw the Pink Power Ranger, despite my love of giant monster fighting robots (Voltron), Power Rangers never quite clicked for me, I guess I just wanted the show to look like this in my head.

Tim: A little Payback

Hey look!I still make and post art here, unfortunately I'm only able to do it in my "free time " which is why my posts have been a little sparse here but, as always, I'm working on that. - Tim

Ben Brings You The Thing

Still having fun with some speed painting.  This one is about an hour and just an attempt to change up my light direction and add some contrast.  Took about an hour in Manga Studio.  You can watch a time lapse below.  See how I completely abandoned my first idea...yep, confidence.

Hey, look at Tim's Vampirella doodle!

Here's another random doodle o'mine.

In many of the digital paintings that I've painted in the past few years I have avoided using the the color black. This piece was a departure from that mindset, and I went a little darker (color -wise) with this one, which seems appropriate for Vampirella.

I think for my next trick (piece), I'm going to draw "Garnet" from the cartoon "Steven Universe".

Hey, look at Tim's doodle!

Hey art buds, just a quick(8hrs) digital painting today.  I felt like using my iPad, so I started this doodle in ArtRage,  just experimenting with color and shapes. Then I finished it in Photoshop.

Thwipp!

Who doesn't love a comic book crossover? Not me. Anyway, this piece was drawn for a comic book pinup show happening at Breakneck Gallery in Lakewood, OH; this coming Saturday (Feb 21st).

This lil' doodle was drawn digitally, using photoshop, but the the piece hanging in the show was printed on paper toned using tea, which created a very cool vintage magazine pinup look to the print. If your in the neighborhood, come check it out.

Art is more fun with friends (or, you got your chocolate in my peanut butter)

It's a proven fact...art is more fun with friends. Mixing and matching combining your lions to form Voltron, always yields something greater than the individual parts (see our Rustbelt murals for examples).

Take this piece, my girlfriend Clare (Kolat) doodled this lil' diddy at Drink n' Draw, and then passed her off to me and I inked her, scanned her, and then colored her in photoshop. Clare draws nothing like how I draw, and I color nothing like Clare would color, but we met somewhere in the middle and created something new.

So go find a buddy and make something new too.

Red Sonja

Hey there lil' blog neglecterinos, here's a little fun to start the new year off (yes, I'm a little behind). I think next week I'll draw a mermaid or something along those lines. -Tim

Tim: Super #1!

Hey look a giant robot! We're (my rust belt buds and I)  drawing all sorts of robots this week, and here's mine! I grew up in the 1980's watching a ton of cartoons with giant heroic robots...and "Super #1" here is my (very obvious) homage to the best of them!

If you're in the Northeast Ohio area this weekend, you should come to "Ingenuity Fest" and see us (the rust belt again) paint a giant mural with all sorts of robots on it,  including this dude here!

Tim's random stuff

Buried under work again this week, so all I have is some random doodles that I've drawn in the last few weeks:

My new self-portrait...Simpson's style, drawn in Adobe Illustrator....

A quick collaboration with my girlfriend Clare, painted in Photoshop...

An unused version of some art for a job, drawn in Illustrator...

...and finally, what I want to be doing right now.

Ben says "Welcome to Apokolips!"

"Had I known one human's death would pained you so, I would have killed more. And kill more I shall. Carry that agony with you to oblivion, Superman."

I really like Darkseid.  As a character, as a design, it just works for me.  Granted, the majority of my experience with him is from Superman: the Animated Series.  So a lot of that appreciation may come from the voice of Michael Ironside.  Either way, I decided to draw him up last Sunday and here he is.

Sketch and inks with Manga Studio.  Colors in Photoshop.

Randy, Round 37, Gotta Get Dat Heart

The Wizard Of Oz is beloved by millions the world over, and I've never liked it.  Not even a little.

Id like it way more if it was like this.

Randy, Round 35: Never Ending Adventure Time

I haven't seen The Never Ending Story for more than a decade but I knew I wanted to crib the poster art for our Adventure Time challenge.  What I didn't expect just how apt of a title it was when I decided to use it as an excuse to level up my meager photoshop skillz.

I used a lot of bad words finishing this.  A whole mess of bad words.  I probably leveled up my cursing skillz in the process.

Expect more things looking like this to come from me in the near future.  I think the style suits me personally, as well as in the fabric of the group.  Also, I didn't spend easter weekend yelling at a computer screen for one drawing.

Erin Week 26: A Victorian Haunting

I know, not a traditional alien, but what can I say? I'm a little obsessed with this monsters and children theme right now, so this is what you get.

Drawn using Faber-Casetll Pitt pens and colored digitally in Photoshop. ...BOO!

WEEK 20:Batman Smash!

Been a while since I've posted, and been a while since I've inked by hand. Let's fix that today.

This started at our unofficial Drink And Draw Social Club launch when I drew an overly beefy Batman, also I was having a bad week and drawing The Hulk will always fix that.

The Hulk is the artists prozac.

There's a couple of process shots over on my blog, if ya nasty.

Week 20: Mathamatical!

.... yeah, I'm not quite sure where this one came from either. Finn and Jake meet the Cosmic Owl or something? Yeah, lets go with that. Cool.
